curious questions:
Boiler Rooms in a Box
Our electromechanical world at home has prefabricated washers, dryers, and fridges. Can’t the hot water heating pumps, valves, controls, and fittings be built like appliances and brought to the construction site like everything else?

What do these have in common…gas plants, spaceships and freightliners. All are far more complicated than a hot water heating system but each is assembled with prefabricated modules. This is not rocket science, pumps, valves, controls and fittings can and should be made into standard appliances.
View B
No home is the same so its impossible to create a standard boiler room for each project. It’s the innovation and creative ability of the heating contractor building on site that makes a hot water heating system work. Beside packaged boiler rooms would dumb down the trades even further.

idesign thinks: Clearly there is room for improvement in the home building arena. For most part, water heaters and other household necessities are standardized. The true innovation would be in creating a technology to heat water that is not so space intensive.
