BigCheez questions:
Jetlag Relief
I travel quite a bit internationally and am often confronted with the problem of jetlag. I am not able to sleep on airplanes and have found no easy solution for overcoming this problem.
View A
Light therapy has been shown to help eleviate the problems associated with jetlag by 'fooling' your brain into thinking it is a time of the day that you are more familiar with and allows you to adjust slowly to the changing conditions.
View B
Proper diet and sleep preparation before travelling can solve this issue. It gives the body strength to be able to adjust quickly to the changing environment and time change. Your body clock will be back in synch in no time!

philipsfan thinks: I've heard of many people using melatonin with some succes, but overall I think it's up to the individual to prepare before a trip to adjust to the time zone they will be visiting. I don't think there is a quick fix to eliminate jet lag. Light therapy may be the easiest solution as most sleep experts prescribe it to manage sleep disorders which is essentially what jetlag is.
ztyler thinks: I don't think there is any way to truly avoid jetlag. It's your bodies natural reaction to traveling and time change. It requires a bit of preparation ahead of time to minimize it. The most obvious symptom of dehydration can be easily solved by drinking plenty of fluids before and during the trip.
modol thinks: it depends on each individual.can not have one solution to suit every one.
crayzon thinks: Humans have an amazing ability to adapt to changing conditions. it's up to the individual to know their own bodies and find what works best for them. I for one will take two mini jack daniels bottles to help soothe my nerves and lapse me into a peaceful in-flight nap.
ilovesimplicity thinks: I think you can make your own (travel) life a lot easier if you drink plenty of water, eat healthy and take some rest. Also a good moisturizer for your face will make you feel a bit better.
JBonnin thinks: I do agree fully with ilovesimplicity about keeping hydrated. When I'm on a long flight I drink a lot of water. Also I try to stretch often, and walk around the aircraft occasionally to improve blood circulation. Also a good night sleep before the journey and, if possible, a nap upon arrival do wonders.
