mannie questions:
Keeping inventory of home products
I often go to the grocery store wondering if I have enough of a certain item only to find that I have thought incorrectly and had enough or end up buying too much unintentionally. I'm curious how others out there keep track of their inventory when it comes to food and household products.
View A
I use my memory in order to keep track of what I have in stock at all times. When I see that I have run out of something, I make a mental note to pick some more up at the store.
View B
I would love to have a more sophisticated technology to manage the inventory in my home. For example, wouldn't it be great to instantly and remotely (via the internet) see if I needed more milk while I was at the store without having to call a family member to check for you.

nijn thinks: Simple, just bring the store into your home and shop online! Order your groceries online, while checking your kitchen cabinets and drawers as you go. Delivered to your doorstep, so no heavy carrying either.
Aos thinks: ninjn, online shopping for groceries is not available in all areas. I live in the US where we used to have several online grocery services which have since gone out of business. I would like to see some type of bar code reader that you could carry with you in order to take inventory of all your home items. This would allow for an easy inventory check at a glance.
boing thinks: A simple notepad and a pen could do the trick. No need for sophoisticated technology.
