peon questions:
Simplicity is... Automation
Simplicity is about automation. Take the toaster, for example. Why should I have to press the lever to start the toasting? It should simply start itself whenever it detects a toast being dropped into the slot.

idesign thinks: I've always been bothered by automobiles maintenance. Why does it have to be so cryptic to find out what is wrong with my car? Generally, when I see that a light has gone off (for example "service engine soon"), why can't the car just tell me exactly what the problem is? It always takes a mechanic and $100 worth of labor costs for him to simply use a special piece of equipment to tell me what's wrong. The car should update me automatically on issues and even give me reminders on when i need maintenance.
JBonnin thinks: idesign, I think you have given one of the best examples of automation making our lives easier!

In respect to the toaster above on the other hand, I guess that said item would become much more expensive and also more complicated to use in a family's household, where each member wants his/her toast cooked to a different degree. Just simpler to turn a button than having to set it each time it will be used.
