jasnmbthinks: Ben Franklin once said "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
In the end, once freedom and privacy are exchanged for security, there is no turning back and we are truly faced with the world of Orwell in 1984.

Public transportation vs. driving
jasnmbthinks: I've tried both and I prefer public transporation. You don't have to worry about someone else causing you to get into an accident and a nice walk every now and then is healthy. Plus, the cost of using public tranportation, particularly if you live within city boundaries can be much cheaper than a car when you consider car payments, paring fees, insurance, and maintenance.

Over-reliance on technology
johndithinks: It's certainly a double edged sword. In countless ways technology has made our lives easier, allowed us to live longer, and has created a true globabl society, but at the same time it has made us more unhealthy, more dependent, and more isolated than ever before. True, we rely on technology maybe too much, but this sacrifice is the cost of moving forward.
