peon thinks: When I was in Taipei (Taiwan) on a business trip, I was at first shocked to see my Taiwanese colleagues freely took naps after lunch. I later learned that it was an acceptable and common practice there.

They don't nap long, just 30 mins after lunch. They nap on (rest their head on) their desks and many of them bring their own mini pillows. Of course, these people also work 10+ hours everyday so the 30 mins nap does their body good!

Why do we carry so many keys?
peon thinks: The reason we still use keys/mechanical locks is because they are CHEAP. Biometric locks costs 5x more than "regular" locks. As for security, I do not believe the mechanical locks are as safe as we are led to believe.

Of course, while biometric/electronic locks provide better security and more convenience, it relies (like JBonnin pointed out) on electricity.... So either you'd keep having to replace the batteries on the unit or good luck to you when the electricity is out.

Are people becoming less intelligent because of technology?
peon thinks: Remembering phone numbers may not seem to be an important task, but if you think about it, remembering things (anything... facts, patterns, solutions, etc.) is the basis of "intelligence." IMO, intelligence is more than just "being able to learn and understand." That's just the first step. But if one does not remember (i.e., retain the information learned), then intelligence is lost. You learn one thing and forget another.

It would be better if we developed technologies which enable us to use our minds MORE, not less. The human brain in capable of storing a lot more information than we use it for.
