Can money buy happiness? Are people who earn 2 dollars a day sad?
ztyler thinks: It's only natural that someone would want more, more of everything. To a certain extent, it's a measure of success and allows you the security to not worry about how much you have. If people were truly content with nothing, we would see more homeless people on the streets. Living on $2 a day is merely a question of economy. In certain parts of the world, you could not live on that little, while in others, you could live like a king.

Home technology upgrades
ztyler thinks: Personalized temperature guages on the shower would be a nice feature. It would save me the time I usually spend testing and adjusting the temperature of the water. How about integration of sound systems into the bathroom. Your morning routine could be made more efficient by allowing you to listen to the news or even watch the news, in a sense allowing you to mutlitask during your morning routine.

Ministry Of Truth 2006
ztyler thinks: This solution seems like it would be a serious infringment on privacy issues. It could never work in the way that is described.

Parking in the big city
ztyler thinks: How about riding a bicycle instead. It's good exercise and doesn't harm the environement.

What features will your smart home have?
ztyler thinks: I wish I could access my home from anywhere simply by going to a personalized 'home page'. It could integrate lighting, security systems, and even allow me to turn the lights on and off while I'm away. An interesting feature might be to also show me power consumption over the span of a month. I think that would allow more people, especially business travellers, to leave their home with the peice of mind that they can still keep watch over it.

What is simplicity to you?
BigJohn0309 thinks: functionality not features...

i agree with the last few comments mostly - simplicity is being able to do things easily without effort....

manuals should never be necessary and things should fit together and just work... of course competition is the problem most of the time...

Ipod - why bother with any other mp3 player?

bluray vs hdd - sigh!

SD vs memory stick vs USB stick vs Compact Flash

dvd +r vs -r vs -rw vs +rw

etc etc

oh and dont even get me started on power cables......

What is simplicity to you?
Dream thinks: Simplicity is harder and harder to achieve in modern Society because of the way Society is run. I don't want innovations, features, funtions, choices, decisions. Just make the thing to do the Basics Well and stop mucking about!

What is simplicity to you?
tomlane thinks: Pedestrianise all towns, ban car ownership, force every one to use 2 seater golf buggys for short journeys and public transport for long journeys.

THATS IT

SIMPLE

What is simplicity to you?
jk thinks: What is simplicity is the context of something new? If simplicity is achieved by "familiarity" developed from using another product, then this can create a negative spiral of uniformity, of limited imagination and a competitive nightmare for companies wanting to break into a market with already substantial leading vendor.(s) So, is the best form of simplicity one which challenges familiarity by offering the opportunity for each one of us to personalise our own way of using products rather than being presented with predetermined routes.

What is simplicity to you?
JBonnin thinks: Simplicity involves choices that turn my life fuller and more agreeable.

Functionality spares a lot of time and stress. Therefore, it makes my life simpler.

On the other hand, some meaningful simple pleasures like reading a book, having friends around, enjoying your children´s company don´t require any special feature to happen.

It is always about finding a balance. We need to keep in mind what really matters to us, and find the best means available to make our lives easier.

4 Day Working Week
guy thinks: People are more productive when they feel they are valued. And giving them more leisure time would help people feel more valued and be more productive.

But also giving extra rewards and praise for getting a task done well, on time , or before time is also good.

If you have a certain job to do for a certain amount of pay, then when it is done you leave work; Is another way of organising time.

Also problems with unemployment can be solved by reducing the hours of those employed and employing more staff.

Is time the new currency?
BigCheez thinks: Let's face it, time is money. It may not be equivelant to a a Euro, but based on other things you could be doing rather than wasting time on unnecessary task, it can translate to something more value. Maybe you could be doing something that saves you money or makes you money. In those terms, time is the new currency. It's the one thing that we should value most as it's the one thing we can't get back.

Is social lending the next evolution of banking?
jk thinks: No. eBay will apply rules and processes to protect itself and then the lending relationship. Business lending is inevitable and unfortunatey will attract loan sharks.
